Frida KahloFrida Kahlo, a Latina artist from Mexico, is not only an inspiration as an artist, but as a person as well. Kahlo used her art to challenge ideas about beauty and the male gaze. She purposefully darkened her unibrow and faint mustache in her paintings to show that women aren't supposed to be perfectly sculpted, smooth, or clean. Often in photos, you can quickly identify her as the only woman wearing masculine clothing, and in one of her paintings, Kahlo wore a blue suit and had her hair short, which was something revolutionary at the time. As a fellow Latina artist, Frida Kahlo encourages me to talk about things I'm passionate about, and to create art that challenges the norms and praises the beautiful things in this world.

Animation
Animation is an art form, and one of the most gorgeous at that.
Bee and PuppycatThis show earns a round of applause from me. Its compelling storyline, filled with whimsical adventures, is perfectly complemented by the unique blend of bold animation and gorgeous artistry. I won’t lie, it’s one of the silliest shows I’ve ever watched. However, every so often, a truly breathtaking shot plays and I'm reminded that, though the show doesn’t take itself seriously, it’s beautifully animated. Its charm lies in the balance of light-hearted fun and engaging narrative, making it truly special.

WakfuWakfu, a French animated series, is a show that embraces its light-hearted nature. The first season, in particular, ranks among my favourites. Its captivating characters, distinctive design, and dynamic animation effortlessly drew me in. The character design, especially the unique silhouettes, are something I try to emulate in my own art. I have a special fondness for the chunky animation style of the earlier seasons, yet I’m equally impressed by the fluidity of the action scenes. I can't wait for the next season to arrive!

Nimona
Nimona’s animation is nothing short of spectacular. The film seamlessly blends stylized 3D visuals with expressive characters, creating a captivating experience. The attention to detail, such as Nimona’s eyes interacting with light in an animal-like manner, adds depth and uniqueness. Despite dealing with weighty themes, the movie remains fun and engaging. From the beautifully crafted backgrounds to the clever storytelling, Nimona is a delightful cinematic journey.
